Living, Dining and Kitchen Areas

The first floor offers a relaxing living room, dining room and kitchen area with views of the ocean, gardens and pool area. Seating for eight at the elegant dining table, or for more casual dining, eat at one of the two bars in the kitchen area. Western style kitchen with the most up-to-date appliances available. Floor to ceiling glass doors allow area to be fully air conditioned or opened to enjoy the ocean breezes.

Step out of the dining area, take a seat in one of the lounges sitting in a small pond or the staff will set up a table and chairs for four, for your dining pleasure while cooling your feet in the pond and enjoying the sounds of the water fall.

Villa Puri Uma Dewi is constructed in a complete rectangular encircling a large tropical garden and private swimming pool, on all sides. A long covered walkway with wooden floors and handrails connect the separate pavilions and structures of the main building and guest compound. Gates open to the inner garden and pool areas, which are an excellent deterrent for families with small children. The main structure has a main fully equipped kitchen and spacious living area with an upper level built-in sofa with cushions for group entertaining, which is located next to another living area with sofas. In the rear area of the main structure 3 air-conditioned bedrooms are located with large en-suite bathrooms. The guest compound has a separate kitchen and 2 air-conditioned bedrooms with bathrooms.

Both the main structure and guest compound have a TV/Study room adjacent to the master bedrooms, which can be used as optional bedrooms or rooms for small children. Villa Puri Uma Dewi is ideal for families and small groups. The buildings are spread out throughout the property, thus assuring privacy. The interior design is tasteful and stylish. illa Om is a peaceful oasis hidden in the heart of the Oberoi area on Bali’s south-western coast; twenty five minutes’ drive from the airport, and convenient for all of the main shops, tourist attractions and vibrant nightspots. The villa is just a few minutes walk from a wide choice of internationally acclaimed restaurants, such as the famous KuDéTa and La Lucciola, and only 300 metres from the magnificent Seminyak beach, renowned for its world-class surf breaks, panoramic coastline views and legendary sunsets.

The colonial-style Villa Om boasts a 10-metre lap pool within a large, private walled garden, and is unusually spacious for a two bedroom property. It has been lovingly furnished with Indonesian antiques, designer fabrics, local artefacts and striking paintings by Pablo Gentile and other artists. Cooled by gentle breezes and ceiling fans, the sizeable open-air living and dining area has been designed to maximise the garden frontage and incorporates different areas for different functions. It is furnished with cushioned antique daybeds and a marble-topped circular table, and complemented by a wall of orchids, birds-nest ferns and traditional ritual masks. The Joglo

The skilled artisans of Demak in Central Java cleverly carved Joglo houses using traditional tongue and groove techniques, forgoing any use of nails in the design. Finely carved, the Joglo features finely carved pillars fluted with delicate floral patterns and symmetrical intricate layers of mandala style artwork in the ceiling.

The Joglo is a peaceful centerpiece, an open-air living area that appears to be floating on water, surrounded by a 21-meter lagoon swimming pool that curves amidst the orchids and frangipanis. Complete with a table for fine dining set with antique cutlery and crockery, a relaxing lounge with plantation chairs in which you can while the evening away and comfortable corners to curl up in with an interesting book, the joglo typifies the best in tropical Asian luxury.

The Bungalows

There are three separate early 20th century style bungalows with oversize antique Balinese beds, en-suite grand bathrooms and tropical outdoor showers.
You will awake on Egyptian cotton sheets surrounded by one of Indonesia’s finest collection of antiques, wash in a pedestal washbasin or soak in a scented flower bath under an outdoor Indonesian bale.

Two of the bungalows have wide verandahs and den-libraries full of interesting books, attached to the bedrooms. The third bungalow has an upper open pavilion for sunset cocktails with adjacent butler’s pantry and guest toilet. The open pavilion houses a traditional Javanese day bed and an old Chinese rocking chair, a perfect shady area to disappear into with a book. Complete with a kitchenette/butler’s pantry, this self-contained pavilion is perfect for friends sharing the residence.

The Water Features and Garden

An important feature in the design of VILLA DES INDES was the effect of being surrounded by water. This nobleman’s former residence appears to float on water with a twenty-one meter lagoon swimming pool surrounding the centerpiece joglo.

Upon entering the property you are surrounded by an Asian fishpond with floating water lilies and teaming with koi fish, an amusing site to watch at feeding time! With traditionally carved antique stone dragon head water spouts blanketed in moss, the constant sound of gentle running water adds to the natural ambience of the residence.

Tropical palms and fragrant frangipanis are so very relaxing instead. Statues hide amongst the foliage and orchids hang from shady trees. The garden has a calm and peaceful tranquility, truly a botanical paradise.

The Antiques

With passion for preserving and sharing the rich culture tapestry of Indonesia, the owners have an extensive collection of Balinese and Javanese antiques. One of the most delightful things about residing in V ILLA DES I NDES is that there is always something fascinating to look at.

The extensive collection is housed in Villa Des Indes in Bali. Having the privilege to not only view but also to be surrounded by these fascinating artifacts is a pleasure in itself. The villa’s designer touches are instantly evident from the very first sight; color combination of the walls and well placed, carefully selected art objects: modern painting and turn of the century Bali photographs on the walls, and primitive wood/stone carvings that sits on polished wood pedestals. Combined with refined designer furniture, and views of tropical greenery all around, the villa permeates the new beat of Bali.

The modern touch continues into the garden and pool area, merging the inside of the house with the outside surroundings. Locally available volcanic stones called “Batu Candi” are used extensively through out the outdoor areas, a perfect example of how the use of natural materials can be adapted into a tropical contemporary design.

The lush tropical garden design takes on an almost geomantic approach, which compliments the contemporary design of the interior. Belonging mostly to the palm and heliconia species, the plants used through out the garden truly reflected the feeling of tropical living. Two “Batu Candi” sundecks rest at either side of the natural stone pool, one exposed to the sunlight, which is perfect for sunbathing, while the other placed under three mature trees, perfectly suited for lying under the shade for some long neglected siestas.

Roofed in traditional Balinese tile roof, this one-storied villa is comprised of three bedrooms; two on either side of the semi-open living area flanked by a 2- tiered pond, and another to the one side of the air-conditioned living room. All three bedrooms have it’s own ensuite bathrooms and all equipped with 33-channeled cable TV.

The living areas of the villa are the best combination of both worlds: indoors and outdoors. The indoor living room is fully air-conditioned and houses the sofa area with audio-visual systems housed in cabinets. Entertainment facilities consist of a cable television, DVD player, and stereo system – also supplied are a selection of DVDs, books and board games. To the other end of this area sits a long, highly polished teak table that enables 8 to sit and dine comfortably. Behind the dinning table is the pantry with mini-bar, refrigerator, and sink. All around are ceiling to floor windows, which opens up to the semi-out door living area, effectively combines the two into one large living space. Here one finds a six-person round glass top table with comfortable rattan woven dinning chair. To the other side, a 2 piece matching rattan woven sofas is placed. With ceiling fans servicing both areas, this is a perfect place to spend a balmy Balinese afternoon, while listening to the flowing sounds of water coming from the circulating 2-tiered pond and the Jacuzzi further out.

All floors are made of white Terrazzo tiles divided by glass, which again shows the resourcefulness of the designer when it comes to the combination of materials used. The polished Terrazzos continue into the 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, where the feeling of tropical contemporary designs persevered, complete with a split-unit air conditioner, wooden built-in closets, a personal safety box and large windows and doors opening onto the garden or pool. All bedrooms feature ensuite bathrooms, which has separate shower and tub areas, and also uses Terrazzo through out the floor, tub and washbasin. All bedrooms are equipped with a cable television, making a lazy morning even harder to get up to.

This villa’s design accomplished in capturing what “Bali Modern” is all about: contemporary design, minimalism, space, and attention to detail. Coco Groove is a privately owned 3 bedroom modern minimalist style villa located in the heart of Seminyak just behind the renowned Oberoi Hotel in Bali and just minutes away from the beach. It will take you only around 20 minutes to travel from ad to the international airport, a couple of minutes to the tourist Mecca of Legian/Kuta and only 20 minutes from the island’s pre-eminent signature golf course, the Nirwana Bali Golf Course. The golf course perhaps boasts the most beautiful location of any golf course in the world and has recently been voted one of world’s top ten golf courses.

Description
In a developing area of Bali in Seminyak, in the south of the island, the Singaporean owner of a plot of land wanted a holiday property that was open, convenient to live in, and yet maintained some references to traditional Balinese dwellings (though not at all overtly). The site was originally virgin paddy fields, and though close to the sea, there was no possibility of a view from the single-storey structure, which was also what the client requested.

Architect Ian Chee has designed a complex that creates entirely its own habitat within the surrounding walls. Chee’s intention was to re-interpret the traditional Balinese layout of a dwelling. In this, there is a series of small construction grouped in the same compound, with a minimum of five areas: entrance, bedroom kitchen, bathroom and granary. The precise layout varies according to status and caste, and follows rules laid down in treatises, some going back to the fifteenth century. Masonry platforms are traditional, as is the interpenetration of interior and exterior space.

The garden, which can be entered through sliding glass doors, connects the bedroom to the bathroom. The same bedroom is seen from its entrance. A full-height sliding door that can open the room fully to the rest of the compound. The living shelter is in the background. The bathroom of another bedroom seen from its courtyard garden, open-air bathing is another Balinese tradition that suits the climate. A mirror running the entire width of the bathroom enhances its open, natural aspect.

The bedrooms and the TV/Study room are fully air-conditioned. The master bedroom offers a Chinese style antique bed with en-suite bathroom and the both guest rooms offer double bed bedrooms with private bathrooms. All rooms have a view to towards the pool and the large open lawn shaded with tall swaying coconut trees. Coco Groove has its own in-ground pool tiled with beautiful natural green color stone tiles. Behind the pool overlooking the entire property is a Balinese bale just perfect for those afternoon naps. Alternatively you can just laze beside the pool on one of the outdoor lounges.

This house, completed in 2004 and with a total built-up area of 550 square meters, was conceived as a series of bales (the Balinese version of a gazebo) linked by a covered walkway and orientated to take advantage of the prevailing winds, using large cantilevered overhangs and plated pergolas for shade and protection from rain.

By adapting the arrangement of a traditional Bali home, the architect was able to satisfy the client’s wish to keep the guest quarters separate, and these were located in a line extending from the corner housing the kitchen, service quarters and garage. The living shelter followed by the master room extends from this corner at a right angle, while the house temple was placed facing the sacred mountain Gunung Agung in the opposite corner of the compound.

One entire wall of the compound is lined by plantings of small trees. The water connects the living area at firth with the bathrooms that adjoin the master and second bedrooms. The focus of the house is the living shelter, roofed but open on three sides. In the centre of this is the sunken seating area, into which steps lead down from two opposite corner. Early morning sunlight streams into the living shelter (overleaf), with its dining table at left. The area faces out on to the lawn, swimming pool and a small bale in traditional style, thatched with alang-alang grass.

As the architect comments, ‘In material terms, we chose a palette of simple finishes’. And in the bathrooms the combination is of river pebbles set in one wall, wood, concrete and polished metal. A borderless mirror, projecting slightly to accommodate concealed lighting behind, gives a modern contrast to the pebbles.

Woven bamboo matting in various forms is used for cupboards and screens. A bathroom door-handle is cast in metal from one of the river pebbles used throughout the house. A dressing-room mirror, designed by the architect, is set in the neck of a tailor’s dummy imprint of bamboo matting has been left in a concrete ceiling from the form work.

Coco Groove is fully serviced with its own staff, including a cook, a maid, gardener, and night time security staff. The staff is at your call for the entire duration of your stay and will cater to your every need.

Chimera Villas are located within a 5 minute walk to the beach. The beaches of Seminyak are quieter then those of Kuta (less hawkers) but are great for lounging or playing in the waves…with a surf board or without. Welcome to bring a towel from the villa and don’t forget your sunblock!

Shopping is also a 5 minute walk away to Jalan Laksmana (also called Eat Street or Jalan Oberoi). The street has many clothing and art work boutiques boasting the latest Balinese designs.

Eating in or out in Seminyak is probably the most attractive part of Villa Chimera. It’s location allows you many choices within walking distance or a short taxi drive. This is the short list of the best of Seminyak:

1. Kafe Warisan – best French Food in SE Asia and a night to be remembered set amongst rice fields. Ask the villa staff to reserve you a table….reservations recommended.

VILLA CAPACITY
The numbers of persons occupying each Villa must not exceed the maximum number stated in the booking confirmation. Chimera Villas reserves the right to refuse any booking, which, in its opinion, is unsuitable for the property concerned. The maximum occupancy for a two bedroom Villa is four (4) adults & two (2) children. The maximum occupancy for a three bedroom Villa is six (6) adults & three (3) children.

CHILDREN POLICY
Our Children’s policy is to provide one (1) extra bed for one child under 15 years old. In the case of two children, we allow one (1) child under 5 years old to sleep with parents and we will provide an extra bed for children 5 to 15 years old.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Chimera Villas will provide 1 (one) superior standard vehicle per Villa for guest transfers from and to the Airport. In the case where more than 1 (one) vehicle is required due to numbers of accompanying baggage, the charge of the extra vehicle/s will be passed on to the client.

BREAKFAST
The Chimera Villas breakfast is inclusive in the nightly accommodation rate. Any other breakfast items which are selected outside of the Chimera Villas Breakfast, will be charged to the guest accordingly

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
Wireless internet access is inclusive in the nightly accommodation rate. For guests who do not have a laptop or who have a laptop where wireless access is not available to them, dial up internet charges incurred will be charged to the guest.

EVENTS/PARTIES
Normal bookings are for vacation purposes and special permissions must be obtained for functions where the number of people in attendance exceeds 150% of the capacity of the villa. Also clients should be aware that these are private villas located in residential neighborhood and, as such, not all functions or events can necessarily be accommodated. DAMAGE/LOSSES
The guest is responsible for leaving the property in good order and in a clean condition. The guest further undertakes to pay for any damages or losses incurred during occupation. Entrance

Casa Evaliza Villa is located in a secure gated area next door to the prestigious ‘Club at The Legian’ and therefore well protected by the Club’s security team as well as the Villa’s own security guards. Guests have use of the car park at The Club and the villa itself is accessed via a short pathway capped with a pergola draped in flowering bougainvillea.

Living & Dining Pavilion

The expansive Living & Dining Pavilion is characterised by a soaring ‘alang alang’ thatched roof, cream terrazzo floor, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that run the length of the building and along one side. These doors can folded open to create an open-air, tropical living experience beside the garden and swimming pool. The pavilion is cooled by six powerful ceiling fans. At one side of the room is a dining table, comfortably seating ten on rattan chairs. The cream walls are adorned with local artwork and the centre of the room is furnished with two cushioned rattan sofas and ottomans, a large coffee table, lamps and an antique Javanese ‘gerobok’ chest on wooden wheels, originally used for storing rice. A romantic, canopied daybed rests in the corner beside an antique table.

TV Room

The TV Room is located on the ground floor next to the Living & Dining Pavilion. This cosy, air-conditioned room is accessed by folding glass doors and features a cool terrazzo floor. It is furnished with a comfortable sofa bed and equipped with bookshelves, a satellite-channel TV & DVD/CD player and a computer. WiFi Internet access is available.

Kitchen

The fully equipped, modern kitchen is strategically positioned between the Living & Dining Pavilion and the staff service area. It presents marble work surfaces, a central island and immaculate stainless steel appliances.

Master Suite

The Master Suite covers the ground floor of the two-storey building. The suite is dominated by a king-size, netted bed and the walls display colourful paintings. This generously-sized bedroom also incorporates a sitting area furnished with a desk, shelf unit, lamps, sofa, coffee table, desk and a huge satellite-channel TV with DVD and sound system. A window to one side overlooks a small pebbled garden.

The grand, ensuite, air-conditioned bathroom is accessed via sliding doors. It features an avocado-green terrazzo floor and a huge central bathtub. A double vanity unit is fashioned in the same green terrazzo and presents two mirrors and twin washbasins. There is also a walk-in shower and a toilet hidden within an alcove. Floor-to-ceiling mirrored doors slide open to reveal a dressing room, fitted with a wall of rattan-fronted wardrobes.

Sliding glass doors from the bedroom open onto a covered verandah that runs the length of the building and looks out over the garden. It is furnished with a rattan sofa, two rattan chairs and a small table.

Guest Bedrooms

Guest Bedrooms ‘Casa Evaliza 1’ and ‘Casa Evaliza 2’ are located on the upper floor, accessed by a timber-clad staircase. The rooms are bordered by a delightful covered balcony with a timber floor and elevated views of the garden. The balcony runs the length of the building and is furnished with a sofa, rattan chairs and a glass-topped table. These two air-conditioned guest bedrooms feature wooden floors and are equipped with queen-size beds, reading lamps, wardrobes, mirrors and TV/DVD players. Ensuite bathrooms are fashioned in green terrazzo and are fitted with bathtubs, single vanity units, walk-in showers and toilets. The fourth bedroom is slightly smaller; it is furnished with a queen size bed and TV/DVD. The ensuite bathroom is fitted with a wardrobe, washbasin, walk-in rainshower and toilet.

Swimming Pool and Garden

The large walled garden is shaded by beautiful mature trees and landscaped with a terraced lawn on two different levels, complete with fragrant frangipani trees and potted bonsais. Palimanan stone steps lead up to the 14.5 x 5 metre swimming pool, which features a dazzling water cascade at one end. A set of wide, grass covered steps extends to a grassy pool deck furnished with sunbeds. This is also the location of a ‘bale’ open-sided, thatched relaxation pavilion fitted with a huge built-in daybed. There is an alfresco dining table for six, sheltered within the bale.

Location

Casa Evaliza is located in the very centre of what is now considered to be the Seminyak’s prime district, exemplified by internationally-acclaimed beachside restaurants, opulent spas, boutique hotels, trendy cocktail bars, and chic designer boutiques. ABOUT VILLA BATAVIA

Designed by the acclaimed Balinese architect, Putu Edi Semara, and influenced by various legendary colonial-style hotels, the property captures the architectural heritage of Asia’s crossroads, following a colonial theme with high ceilings and art deco furniture. The villa is comprised of three buildings linked by a covered pergola and a cloister-style walkway hung with custom made colonial-style glass lanterns. The first building is the guest wing, complete with the living and dining room. The second building houses the reception hall and cocktail lounge, and the third building is the master wing. The staff service area, together with laundry and back-up generator set, is unobtrusively tucked out of the way at the back of the property.

Each of the four suites at Villa Batavia is equipped with a mini-bar fridge, a safe deposit box, an independently controlled cable TV and DVD player, and a Bose iPod dock. Wi Fi high speed Internet is accessible throughout the property. There is also a remote Bose music system featuring a huge, comprehensive music library.

No expense was spared in the creation of this remarkable residence, the owners’ priority was to be gracious to the environment and the villa has therefore been designed to be as efficient and as environmentally-friendly as possible. No chemicals are used in the pool; instead it employs a salt water system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin, while the gin-clear fishponds employ bio-technology.

ACCOMMODATION

Bedrooms

The Master Wing houses an upstairs master suite, with a timber floor, sumptuous en-suite bathroom, a large verandah and a small adjoining study room with a desk. Downstairs is another capacious master suite incorporating a pillared verandah and a garden bathroom fitted with a bathtub and outdoor shower.

The Guest Wing presents two ground floor bedrooms. One of the en-suite bathrooms is characterised by an open-air shower, and the other by an eye-catching stained glass window.

Every suite in the villa is different, and all of the en-suite bathrooms are air-conditioned with timber floors, together with non-slip acid marble floors in the walk-in showers. Guests are in for a treat with the provision of four poster beds crafted from aged teak and reproduction pedestal washbasins. Furthermore, the master bathrooms boast opulent copper bathtubs.

Living and Dining

The 60-square metre, living and dining room is positioned on the upper floor in close proximity to the modern and fully equipped, state-of-the-art kitchen.

The living area presents a home theatre fitted with a large screen TV/DVD player. It is furnished with deeply cushioned sofas, chairs, and original chandeliers from Solo City in Java. Guests will relish the stunning views of clear open skies over the neighbouring Balinese rooftops, temples, palm trees and, on a clear day, the Island’s distant volcanoes. This delightful room is cross ventilated by the sea breezes that blow through the shuttered windows, which are further characterised by bevelled glass. Alternatively guests can close the windows for air-conditioned comfort. The dining experience, meanwhile, is enhanced with the finest white bone china crockery and silver plated cutlery.

Cocktail Lounge

A favorite area with guests is the upstairs cocktail bar complete with a mirrored antique buffet, mood lighting and a comfortable upholstered sofa and chairs. There is also a computer for guest use.The owners have paid a lot of attention to the wine list and are proud to present an impressive selection of fine wines from around the world.

FACILITIES

Reception Hall

Guests will enter the villa through a magnificent reception hall, located on the ground floor of the central building. Furnished with rattan planter chairs and sofas and complemented by parlour palms, this regal room opens straight onto the swimming pool. The splendid floor is composed of black and white granite tiles laid to form a traditional, diagonal chequerboard pattern.

Garden and Pool

Villa Batavia is set within a beautiful walled garden complete with an 18-metre freeform swimming pool that is reminiscent of a river pool. There is also a separate children’s pool complete with a bridge across to an island. This lovely area is planted with fruit trees, fragrant frangipanis and ferns, complemented by two waterfalls and a large rock wall with a water cascade. Every need has been considered and a guest washroom is available for pool users, accessible from the garden. A secure parking area provides space for motorbikes and two cars.

Steam Room and Spa

On the ground floor of the Master Wing is an ornate Moroccan-style steam room with colourful mosaic tiles, a domed roof, built-in bench seating, and an enticing, two-tiered, coldwater fountain in the centre. Traditionally, Moroccan baths are places to meet and enjoy conversation, so the temperature is therefore not too hot. The aromatic steam opens the pores, cleanses the skin and helps to relax aching muscles. Next to the steam room is an air-conditioned massage room with a massage couch and amenities.

Villa Batavia’s two top class chefs can prepare anything from snacks up to five-course gourmet dinners, or other requests as required.

The full lunch and dinner service is a dining delight where guests can enjoy all manner of food service in a choice of relaxing environments. Guests can opt to dine in the comfort of the air-conditioned Dining Room; the dining table can accommodate large groups, and is also the perfect setting for a formal dinner party. Alternatively, for a more intimate or casual experience, the balcony and verandah in the master wing are lovely spots for couples to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner together. Additionally, for a romantic dinner experience, the staff can set up a candlelit table in the garden.

The fine-dining menu includes appetizers such as spicy chicken pomelo salad, prawn rolls and chicken teriyaki salad, while soups include pumpkin ginger and tom yam gong. The team also includes two in-house chefs, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, pool attendants and security guards operating on a 24-hour shift basis. Villa Azaya is a contemporary-styled, five-bedroom, Bali rental villa, located just 50 metres from the beach in the Petitenget/Seminyak neighbourhood on Bali’s southwest coast. Covering 2100 square metres, the shingle-roof property comprises a large two-storey building complemented by a fully independent two-bedroom guesthouse, stand-alone gym, poolside gazebo and 20-metre swimming pool, well integrated within an expansive, flat-lawned garden.

The five air-conditioned bedrooms each feature ensuite bathrooms, there is also a living room, dining room, feature kitchen, and guest office/library, while the guest house incorporates its own living & dining room complete with small kitchen. Ipods have been installed in every living area, and a Bose 321 home entertainment system provides sound in the living room, dining room and pool bar. Master Bedrooms
The two, sizeable, master bedrooms are located on the upper floor of the main building. Each is air-conditioned and each features a teakwood floor, a dressing area and an ensuite bathroom; each is complemented by a rooftop terrace with a lovely view of the garden, the neighbouring fields and a glimpse of the ocean. Both master bedrooms are furnished with a California king size bed, one of which is a Ziplock bed that can be converted into twin beds. Each room also presents teak wardrobes, shelf units, a desk, an upholstered daybed and a 32” satellite TV. Sliding doors lead from these master bedrooms into their respective ensuite bathrooms. Each spacious master bathroom is fitted with a bathtub with handheld shower, a double vanity unit with a large wall mirror and twin washbasins, and a toilet. One of the master bathrooms has the additional facility of a walk-in shower, complete with a glass door and a built-in seat.

Guest Room
There is a small air-conditioned guestroom on the ground floor complete with double bed, teak wardrobes, a built-in desk, lamps and artwork. The ensuite bathroom features a slate tiled floor and walls, a large walk-in rainshower, vanity unity with mirror and washbasin, toilet, and shelves for storage.

Guest House
The self-contained guest house offers independence and privacy; it is quite separate from the main building and accessed by a wooden bridge over an ornamental pond. This single-storey building incorporates two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, and a centrally positioned, open-sided, living & dining area complete with a small kitchen. The living space is furnished with segmented sofas and a glass-topped coffee table, and equipped with a satellite TV/DVD player, Nintendo Wii game system and an iPod dock. There is also a dining table for six. The kitchen is fitted with a two-burner gas hob, a refrigerator and cupboards. Of the two bedrooms, one is furnished with a king size bed, and the other with a king size Ziplock bed that can be converted to twin beds. Living Room
The spacious living room is located poolside with glass doors on two sides that can be fully opened to create an open-air tropical living experience with the addition of a fan. Alternatively, the doors can be closed for air-conditioned comfort. The room features a cool tiled floor, upholstered chairs and segmented sofas, and is equipped with a 42” satellite TV and DVD player.

Dining Room with en suite Kitchen
The large air-conditioned dining room is furnished with a table for 12, and also features a ceiling fan, mood lighting and sliding doors, which open onto the pool terrace. More doors on the opposite side can be opened to allow for cross ventilation and access into a walled garden area, bordered by a pond with bulrushes and lilies. At the far end of the dining room is an open-plan, fully equipped, feature kitchen with a marble work top, a central island, stylish white cupboards and stainless steel appliances. There is also a service kitchen and laundry hidden away behind the main kitchen.

Guest Office/Library
The guest office & library is located on the upper floor landing of the main building. This cool breezy space is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs, an ottoman and a coffee table. It is decorated with local artwork and equipped with a computer and fax printer.

Gazebo
There is large open-sided ‘bale’ pavilion in the garden, with a raised wooden floor and a high roof, rattan sofas and a dining table for eight. It is cooled by natural breezes and two ceiling fans.

Pool & Garden
The extensive walled garden is stunningly landscaped around the 20 x 5 metre swimming pool, which is ideal for swimming laps. The flat green lawns are punctuated by palms, fragrant frangipanis, and other flowering trees. A wide timber deck, furnished with sunloungers and umbrellas, borders the infinity edge pool, which is lined with rustic Java stone. Every guest need has been considered with the provision of a pool bar, a pool shower and a guest washroom and toilet. There is even a surf board for guest use.

Gym
The air-conditioned Gym is a single-storey stand-alone building, located close to the swimming pool. It has a mirrored wall, sliding glass doors and is fully equipped with a treadmill, upright exercise bike, Concept2 Indoor Rower, multigym, free weights, adjustable bench, stretching and yoga mats, and an exercise ball. Dining Pavilion

The dining pavilion is furnished with a sleek black lacquered dining table for eight, positioned within an open air pavilion sheltered by a roof with a wooden ceiling and pendulous paddle fans. The pavilion features a bar and service area, offering a delightful alfresco dining experience.

Sunken Lounge

The open-air sunken lounge is located adjacent to the dining pavilion, and is an attractive space to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails or after-dinner coffee and liqueurs. Softly cushioned seating is arranged around three sides of a cosy nook, complete with a black terrazzo floor.

Garden, Pool, and Chill-out Areas

The entrance to the Zen-inspired property leads guests past an ornamental pond into a walled garden dominated by a 23-metre swimming pool, which is bordered by flat lawns punctuated with palms and frangipani trees. The spectacular pool extends the length of the garden and features a wide, deep channel for swimming laps, in addition to stepped levels that allow guests to sit, lounge or lie in the water without actually having to swim.

Four poolside cabanas – actually modern translations of traditional Balinese ‘bale’ relaxation pavilions – appear to float upon the surface of the water. Each bale is fitted with a yielding mattress and sheltered from the sun by white roller blinds and a white Sunbrella canopy.

Located in the centre, with two bales on either side, is a large bubbling, open-air Jacuzzi. Indeed, the theme of The Aqua is total relaxation, and everything has been designed around the comfort of the guests. Another restful seating area can be found at one end of the pool, where an external staircase leads to the sunny rooftop level.

Barbeque

A black terrazzo outdoor buffet table complete with barbeque grill, offers a facility for alfresco party dining.

Steam Room

The large walk-in steam room is located in one corner of the garden. Big enough to accommodate four people, it features a frosted glass door, bench seating, a non-slip white granite floor, and creamy-white Palimanan stone walls extending into a arched ceiling.

Party Room

Accessed from the garden via solid sliding wood doors, the soundproofed party room is ultra private, spacious, windowless and cool. The air-conditioned room is equipped with ceiling fans and a wall-mounted, 39-inch, LCD flat screen satellite TV, together with a DVD player and a quality sound system with surround sound speakers positioned on the ceiling.

It is furnished with large upholstered sofas and corner units, a coffee table and built-in shelving. A black terrazzo and teakwood bar is positioned at one end, adjacent to a guest washroom. Mirrored detailing adorns the white walls, lights are recessed into the ceiling, and there is plenty of floor space for dancing.

With no fear of disturbing the neighbors, this room presents a wonderful party facility and can comfortably accommodate 20-30 guests.

Kitchen

The modern and compact, fully-equipped kitchen is located out of sight at the rear of the property, yet close to the dining pavilion for ease of service. It contains all of the facilities that the staff require for the preparation of delicious meals, innovative buffets, and party snacks.

Bedrooms

Each of the four air-conditioned bedrooms is accessed by floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, and each is furnished with a queen-size bed and built-in bedside cabinets, funky lamps, white wardrobes and drawers.

Two of the bedrooms are located on ground level and two are located on the rooftop level. Embracing fresh white walls, cool creamy-white terrazzo floors, soft grey and white furnishings, and an abundance of space and natural light, the urban chic decor is a study in progressive minimalism.

Each bedroom is linked to its own spacious bathroom, fitted with a large terrazzo soaking tub, twin washbasins, and a glass frosted cubicle housing a toilet and an indoor rainshower.

Additionally, three of the bedrooms incorporate an open-air, garden rainshower; each shower is centrally positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom and is accessed on either side by clear glass doors.

Each bedroom is equipped with a safe deposit box, a Bose iPod sound dock, and ceiling fans in addition to the hidden air-conditioning units. There is a satellite TV connection in three of the bedrooms, and a TV can be provided upon request.

Rooftop terrace and sundeck

On the rooftop level, fringed by pink flowering bougainvillea, a large open-air terrace is fitted with a huge 2 x 4-metre daybed, which is sheltered by a pergola dripping in red passionflowers.
An open-air walkway winds around this upper level, girded by a glass wall and backed in places by banded wooden screens, with daybeds located at various intervals.

Jim Thompson, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Bahama fabrics were used to create a fresh blue and white colour scheme through out the ground floor, and a tasteful tropical green scheme on the second floor. They were combined with carefully selected Indonesian antiques, iconic designs such as McGuire Rattan sets and modern functional furniture pieces to create tasteful and comfortable living spaces.

Special attention was paid to making sure Villa Aliya is ‘kids friendly’ while at the same time allowing parents a maximum of privacy. The comfortable entertainment room that easily converts into a fourth bedroom provides children with their own space to be in while parents can relax in the bar area next door. The pool area was designed to have no ‘dead corners’ and non-slipping finishes such as roughened granite floors and wooden patios around the pool provide additional safety.

Resin lamps used throughout much of the house not only provide a lovely warm light, but are safer than traditional glass lamps when it comes to being blown over by the wind or by children. An environmentally friendly solar system provides hot water throughout the property, gray water from the house is recycled for use in the garden, and the pool is based on an ionized system that is not only good to the environment with its reduced need for chlorine but is great for your skin too.

Villa Aliya even has its own personally designed spa products, with a fresh and nurturing fragrance combining lemongrass, ginger and cucumber for Villa Aliya handwash and bodywash. Living room

A striking eye-catcher in the living room is the living back wall filled with ferns, stag horns and orchids. This is a clever re-interpretation of an old Dutch room design where air slits close to the ceiling facilitate air flow through the room. The living wall provides a colourful green backdrop for comfortable oversized white Sunbrella sofas decorated with Ralph Lauren cushions in blue and white, and a beautiful McGuire rattan set. Old Balinese wooden house columns were converted into decorative standing lamps. The living room opens up to the pool and has a view of the dining pavilion on the other side.

Office

A separate room at the back was set up as a small office with a computer and printer and a high speed internet connection to make sure that you can stay in touch with the world if you want to. However wireless Internet is available throughout the premises should you wish to keep in touch on your laptop.

Kitchen

The large friendly kitchen continues the blue and white colour scheme created for the downstairs living areas in a modern interpretation of old Dutch colonial style, with replicas of old tiles adding the finishing touch. Every cook will enjoy the well thought out layout and the state of the art appliances, including a generously sized fridge and a wine cooler.

Bedrooms

Villa Aliya has 4 air-conditioned bedrooms. The villa was designed so that two couples can comfortably share it at the same time; the two master bedrooms are both on the ground level and are of a similar general setup with generous en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom features Bose ipod peakers, a 32-inch flat screen TV, ceiling fans and generous wooden wardrobes or walking wardrobes with safety deposit boxes and plenty of storage space.

The first master bedroom has a view of the pool, a large water feature and the garden beyond. The centre of the room is a romantic antique four-poster king-sized bed wrapped in voile. The bedroom also includes a small desk area and a daybed.

The second master bedroom features an antique Javanese bed made of carved old teak wood that was turned into a tasteful headpiece for the king-sized bed. A reading area with a pair of old Javanese wicker chairs complete the room. The room is located on the other side of the living area and the pool from the first master bedroom to maximize privacy.

The third bedroom is located upstairs and has two striking queen sized single beds made of old carved Madura benches. French doors lining the entire length of the room open onto a private balcony with a view of the pool, the landscaped gardens beyond and the outside dining area.

Entertainment Room / Fourth Bedroom

The fourth bedroom is a large lounge space that serves as an entertainment room during the day, with lots of colourful Jim Thompson cushions and mattresses for casual lounging and afternoon naps. The latest 50-inch flat screen TV and a Bose sound system provide high quality entertainment. A card table is also available for more hands-on fun.

Trundle beds built into the lounge area allow the room to be converted into a bedroom within moments; thereby making it especially suited for children. This room was conceived to provide children with their own safe, fun space – giving their parents a chance to relax on their holiday as well.

Bathrooms

All bathrooms were designed in a tasteful ‘beachy’ theme contrasting cream coloured granite with antique woods. Bathrooms all feature two sinks, and the en-suite bathrooms to the 3 main bedrooms have large eggshell bathtubs in addition to open air showers. Antique Jepara wooden carvings from Java were used to create striking mirror frames. The bathroom furniture was made from old recycled teak, thereby not only using beautifully aged hardwood but continuing the environmentally friendly theme of Villa Aliya.

Upstairs Lounge / Bar Area

Open on three sides to wonderful views of landscaped gardens and traditional Balinese thatched roofs, the upstairs Bar area almost always catches a breeze from the ocean. Colorful prints of old drink advertisements decorate the back of the bar area, while comfortable sea grass bar stools invite hanging out at the bar. Large day beds covered in bright Sunbrella and Tommy Bahama materials provide additional comfortable spaces to lounge. Beautifully hand crafted rattan fans hand enhance the feeling of tropical living.

A specially designed resin chandelier above the bar creates warm, intimate lighting, while a Bose sound system provides high quality musical entertainment. This room is guaranteed to become one of your favourite spaces in Villa Aliya.

Dining Areas

Villa Aliya has two dining areas. The first is a breakfast area made of large wooden benches and a solid table set between the kitchen and the living room. Colourful cushions and specially commissioned modern art completes this space’s fun and casual look.

The second dining space is located in a separate Balinese pavilion or Bale across the pool with 10 comfortable rattan chairs and a large wooden table. Old Balinese house columns were turned into tasteful standing lamps, and a Bose system provides discreet musical ambience. This area has a view of the pool, the main house and the garden.

Garden and Pool

At the centre of the grounds and thereby the house lies a large ionized lap pool of 14 x 4meters with a waterfall feature at the end. Double sun lounges on the wooden deck alongside the pool are perfect for enjoying the sun with large frangipani trees providing shade. A small raised Bale next to the dining area with a view of the garden serves as an additional resting space next to the pool and is ideal for getting a relaxing massage or afternoon reading. The landscaped garden beyond the pool covers half the property and was designed by Anto Kusnanto. Its generous space is perfect for private functions or children having fun.
