Description
Located in the picturesque area known as Umalas, the three bedroom Umah Duri is a short fifteen minute drive by car to the upscale areas of Seminyak and Legian, which boast some of the finest shopping, dining, and nightlife on the island, along with several fine beaches ideal for swimming and surfing. This contemporary three-bedroom Asian-influenced villa provides a cosy yet open-air lodging from which to escape the bustle of downtown and retire into ones own private world.

Guests approach the villa by passing by the security post at the shared entrance, and then through a stone yin-yang mosaic entrance. A long walled walkway flanked on both sides by blooming Birds of Paradise and other tropical flora native to Bali adds another level of privacy.

Two separate buildings constitute the main living areas of the villa, separated by an open lawn and swimming pool, and natural tiled walkways lined in decorative smooth stones. The slightly elevated main building consists of a living area and kitchen flanked on both sides by wrap-around veranda and two bedrooms with private ensuite bathrooms. A formal dining terrace is located to the far right of the structure. The master bedroom and its ensuite bathroom are situated in the second building. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Two contemporary bedrooms are set off to either side of the main living room. The floors and ceilings of both rooms are panelled with dark teak-wood, offering a subtle contrast to the prominent light green and blue toned walls, accented by recessed lighting fixtures. All of the bedrooms are decorated with a collection of limited edition lithographs from modern Chinese artists, and boast a phone system complete with internet access.

The bedroom to the left of the main living area is dominated by a queen sized bed around which hangs a delicate white mosquito net canopy, and a built-in wardrobe takes up the entire back wall. The partially open-air ensuite bathroom is done in grey terazzo, with a modern wrap-around shower, a large vanity and mirror, and an exceptional vase filled with fragrant flowers.

The spacious second bedroom is furnished with a king sized bed, topped off with canopy-style white mosquito netting suspended from the ceiling, and a massive solid table ideal for study. A large adjoining enclave is lined with a standing wardrobe to tastefully conceal guest clothing and belongings, offering everything a guest could desire in terms of a private living space. The ensuite bathroom is done in creme terazzo, with a matching wrap around shower and vanity with mirror. Generously sized windows open up to overlook the back garden.

The completely open-air paliman dining terrace is set to the far right side of the main structure of the villa. A slatted wooden overhang covered with glass creates a giant sun-roof over the entire area, which is perpendicularly oriented to the rest of the villa so as to be set in an open yet separate enclave of the house. The dining table comfortably seats twelve. An orange wall gives a funky flair to this room, co-ordinating wonderfully with the remaining colour scheme of the villa. A desire to close off the dining room terrace can be fulfilled by drawing down the natural bamboo blinds that surround the three open sides. This allows cool breezes to enter and bring with them wafts of frangipani given off by the garden lining the surrounding wall of the villa grounds. The villa temple is situated behind the rear of the dining terrace.

A tiled pathway slices through the meticulous lawn and leads from the dining terrace to the second structure, housing the air-conditioned master bedroom. The organic materials used in the construction of this traditional structure emanate a natural ambience. The high alang-alang (thatched) roof provides an arched ceiling with a ceiling fan, complimenting the rich teak-wood floors. The two prominent walls are composed of huge sliding glass doors allowing the room to be completely opened up to the property or closed off and concealed by swaths of eggshell-toned draperies for absolute serenity and privacy. Draped with delicate white mosquito netting, the king sized canopy bed with Lombok sarong covers dominates the room, and is complimented on either side by matching wooden beside tables topped off with modern lamps and vases overflowing with fragrant fresh cut flowers. An oversized standing wardrobe is concealed behind the bed. Nestled in one corner, the TV offers an added means of escape. The enormous ensuite bathroom is separated from the room by sliding glass doors. Partially open-air, it is done completely in creme marbled terazzo for a contemporary minimalist feel. The large bathtub is set atop a Japanese-style slatted wood platform, with a tropical rain-head showerhead arching above. A magnificent mirror sits above the massive elegant double vanity, and all the amenities are tastefully done in dark wood and bamboo.

The tranquil sounds of fountains spouting three streams of cool water into the ten meter swimming pool compliment the sun dappled property, embracing the tropical easy-living climate produced by the villa layout. On both sides of the pool are sets of wooden sun-deck lounges and elegant white umbrellas casting desirable shade when needed.

The Villa Surya Damai is primarily a private family house, used very regularly by the owners, however it is available for short-term rental for exclusive holidays.

The Villa is suitable for visitors with or without children and whilst the property is designed with a central living area for all to enjoy, there are sufficient additional living spaces to allow privacy whenever needed.

Location :
Villa Surya Damai is situated on the edge of the village of Umalas in a plot that extends to 2850 sq m. The gardens enjoy a 60m palm-fringed river-frontage and overlook the rice fields.

Umalas is a peaceful and quiet village, containing a number of villas as well as the famous riding stables. A pleasant 15 minute walk across the rice paddies brings you to Batu Belig beach, and some of Bali’s best-known beachside restaurants.

The Villa is located only a few minutes drive to the fashionable Seminyak area featuring a fine selection of boutiques, antique shops and some of the highest-quality delicatessan shops and bakeries in Bali.

Style :
Our villa which is one of the newest in Bali, having been completed in January 2003, was designed and constructed by the well-known company, DG Jones, builders of the Four Seasons Hotel in Bali as well as a number of other villas which are the highest standard on the island.

The property is designed around a traditional Balinese-style open-sided living room that leads to the pool deck and 18m pool. There is a master suite consisting of bedroom, bathroom and sitting room (air-conditioned) and two verandahs, a principal guest suite, and three further bedrooms, all with private, outdoor-garden bathrooms.

We also have an upper-floor verandah-style living room overlooking the whole property as well as benefiting from panoramic views of the river and rice-fields. There is a separate formal dining room overlooking the pool and the rice-paddies as well as an informal outdoor dining-deck next to the pool.

The gardens are extensive and provide space, serenity and views that complement the atmosphere of this traditionally-styled and private compound.

Facilities :
The spacious Villa Surya Damai contains 5 air-conditioned bedrooms, with comfortable sleeping arrangements for 14 guests. 3 of the rooms contain king-sized, antique 4-poster beds. The remaining 2 rooms each contain 2 over sized twin beds and 2 roll-away beds.

The bathrooms are all open air in the Balinese style with outdoor showers and delightful enclosed gardens.
We have 3 TV / DVD / sound-systems together with satellite tv connections to 40 stations as well as extension speakers in the dining room. The systems are located in the master suite’s sitting room, the main living room and the upper verandah. All are of the highest quality and most up-to-date standards, including the latest Bose-lifestyle models and Philips Pixel-plus TV’s.

All rooms feature the highest quality furnishings and curtains, extremely comfortable mattresses, and views across the compound.
The formal dining room accommodates up to 12 people, and an additional informal dining table seats 8-10.
The pool deck has 6 sun-loungers and umbrellas to suit. Additional loungers are also available.
Last but not least, we have a championship tennis court (hard-court surface).

Dining:
Our staff prepares a full range of breakfast including plenty of fresh fruit, some of which is home-grown!
We have a state-of-the-art coffee machine so all requirements can be catered for.
We have an excellent cook who is capable of preparing a wide variety of Asian and Western dishes. A menu selection is provided but we would recommend discussing the options with the cook for a more personal touch.
The sources of fresh food in Bali are wide and extensive in terms of locally grown as well as imported varieties.

Staff :
We have an in-house villa manager who oversees the work of all the staff as well as arranging all other services such as restaurant bookings, trips, tours, any shopping that is needed etc. 2 additional ladies reside at the villa and are available at all times. Laundry is done in-house and dry-cleaning is sent out. Additional staff are made available at the villa to complement the number of people staying at any one time such that rooms are maintained in perfect condition at all times. 3 security staff attend the house and grounds at night.

Villa Joty is located in Kerobokan area, in the outskirts of Umalas village, famous for its beautiful rice field landscapes, actually facing the villa. Moments away are the temples and villages of rural Bali and the contemporary attractions and beaches of Legian, with its many upmarket bars and restaurants.

This two-storey holiday villa in Bali is complemented by a pretty garden with a flat lawn and a 14 x 6 metre swimming pool, together with a relaxation pavilion. The villa and garden are surrounded by high walls for privacy, and the name Bahagia is taken from the Indonesian word for happy.

Bedrooms

There are four air-conditioned master bedrooms at Villa Bahagia, complete with ensuite bathrooms, picture windows and large sliding glass doors. One of the bedrooms has an adjoining office that can be used as a single bedroom, suitable for a child. Two bedrooms are located downstairs and two are situated upstairs; each is characterised by fresh white walls, flat ceilings and timber floors. Two of the bedrooms are furnished with queen size beds, while the other two bedrooms have twin beds, which convert to king size beds. Other furnishings include wardrobes, bedside tables, chests and chairs. Alcoves showcase Indonesia artefacts, and the walls are adorned with local artwork or framed black & white photographs of Bali. The two Master Rooms have the additional facility of a dressing area with a dressing table and large mirror. The upstairs Master Bedroom opens onto a romantic stone balcony furnished with a wicker chair and table. From here, there is a beautiful view across the rice fields. The spare room is accessed via the smaller of the two bedrooms on the upper floor; it opens onto a sunny Palimanan stone terrace bordered by plants and flowers. Each bedroom is equipped with a safe deposit box.

Each ensuite bathroom has its own distinct characteristics; each is fashioned in light grey terrazzo, and fitted with a bath tub, walk-in shower, double washbasins and a toilet. The two downstairs bathrooms are each complemented by a pebbled courtyard planted with green foliage. Each is fitted with an oversized bathtub and an outdoor shower. Surrounded by walls, these garden bathrooms are totally private. The two upstairs bathrooms are cool and breezy due to the shuttered glassless windows. Each features a walk-in rainshower and an oversized bathtub.

Living & Dining Room

The spacious Living Room is located in the heart of the villa under a soaring roof. Open to the garden and swimming pool, this room is cooled by ceiling fans and natural breezes, and furnished with a woven cane sofa and chairs. WiFi Internet access has also been installed at the property for the convenience of the guests. Two steps lead up into the dining room, which is positioned next to the kitchen and furnished with a table for ten. Next to the dining room is another sitting area equipped with a satellite TV, DVD player and surround sound system.

Kitchen

The modern kitchen, where the staff will prepare a wide range of delicious meals from an innovative menu, is fully equipped with wooden cupboards and stainless steel fittings. A laundry is situated at the back of the kitchen.

Garden & Pool

The villa presents an enticing 14 x 6 metre swimming pool, which runs the width of the property at the top end. The garden also features terraces, areas for relaxing, a Palimanan sundeck with sun loungers and umbrellas, and a thatched ‘bale’ – a traditional Balinese relaxation pavilion, with a daybed, situated on one side of the pool. Adjoining the villa is an elevated open sided gazebo with a high pitched roof, a ceiling fan, an antique table and built in cushioned seating. A 5 bedrooms villa in Umalas.

The villa Artis is located in the Village of Umalas, close from Seminyak facilities, but still offering a panoramic view on the terrace rice fields. The size of the land is 4300 m2; all building parts and every bedroom is overlooking the garden and the view. The swimming pool is fifteen meters long, and the garden is arranged with three different resting area, offering a sample of the various architecture of the Archipelago. The villa is combining modern facilities, very high power electricity (more than 25 KW) and generator supply, strong water pressure in each bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, ADSL Wi-FI internet in each building and by the pool, with classical finest antique Indonesian style. In each bedroom is at least one double size spring bed.

The compound is composed of four separate buildings:

One Staff area (140 m2)
located at the entrance in an original Javanese Joglo, with huge kitchen, laundry and maintenance. The extra large kitchen can be used for catering or dinner party.

The main house (around 400 m2)
In this house is located a spacious leaving area, and the dining terrace, overlooking the rice fields, with an extra kitchen and a bar. The floor is made of wood and the walls covered by tinted cement and terrazzo.

The three bedrooms are air conditioned and decorated in its own style. The master bedroom located upstairs is around 60 m2. The two bathrooms have an open-air garden, and one has a Jacuzzi.

The guest bungalow (around 80 m2)
Completely independent from the main house, with its large bedroom and lounge, and its open-air bathroom, it offers a perfect hide away for a couple or one family, with its extra bed downstairs, which can accommodate a child, as well as being accommodated like a sofa. The bathroom has its own garden and terrazzo bathtub.

The antique Aceh house (100 m2)
In this building overlooking the rice fields and the pool is located a huge suite upstairs, with a lounge and unsuited child room, all with an amazing view. Downstairs is located a bathroom dedicated to the user, and an amazing resting place on a wooden deck, with swings, lazy chairs and sofa. Once a gain a completely different space, independent form the rest of the house, which can accommodate a whole family.

Staff and service
Our staff (9 persons full time) is very efficient and provides a full service, seven days, including shopping meal preparation and service, until 10 PM, and laundry for our guest with no extra charge. Most of the women speaks English and understands French. They know any shopping place. The cooking is fine, including French, Thai, Japanese and Italian specialties. We also provide security at night. Dry clean is available, with an extra charge.

Larger dinner parties can be arranged on request, as well as baby-sitting with an extra charge.

The Alir is a spacious 5-bedroom estate, nestled beside a river within the beautiful agricultural belt between Seminyak and Canggu on Bali’s southwest coast. The property comprises a main house and two additional guest houses, a relaxation pavilion and a large swimming pool, set in 2800 square metres of beautiful gardens. An omnipresent quality of the property is the abundance of light and space. The graceful architecture of the main two-storey house blends tropical architecture with contemporary design, traditional Indonesian materials, a shingle roof, and recycled teak and bengkirai hardwood floors. The pool house and guest bungalow are traditional Javanese wooden houses that have been lovingly restored and rebuilt.

Living Area
The open sided living area is located on the ground floor of the main house. Cooled by natural breezes and pendulous ceiling fans, it lends itself to be an ideal entertainment environment, incorporating a modern open plan kitchen and boasting wonderful views of the terraced gardens. This large airy space is furnished with a solid dining table for eight, created from a single piece of wood, and ideal for dinner parties. There is also a comfortable sofa and two chairs, a coffee table, a funky lantern, and local artefacts and artwork. A staircase leads up to a splendid mezzanine with a recycled teakwood floor and a balcony walkway lined with four statuesque urns. A guest washroom, with toilet and washbasin, is located on ground level to one side of the living area.

Kitchen
The well equipped open plan kitchen features glass fronted wall units and a black marble serving counter. It is here that the staff will prepare and serve delicious meals.

Bedrooms 1 & 2
Two air-conditioned bedrooms are positioned on the ground floor of the main house. Mirror versions of each other, each is accessed by antique doors and each features a warm wooden floor and latticed sliding doors that are reminiscent of the shoji screens of traditional Japanese architecture; when opened the pool deck and garden appears and the interior becomes one with nature. Each bedroom is furnished with a custom made king size bed and a desk, and each has a walk in wardrobe with cupboards, hanging space and a large mirror. Each en-suite bathroom features a tiled floor, and open air area surrounded by a wall with an indoor-outdoor rainshower, unpolished marble walls, a glass washbasin, a toilet, and a large terrazzo bathtub for soaking up those romantic relaxing interludes.

Cinema Room
The air-conditioned cinema room is located at the top of the stairs, to one side of the mezzanine, and accessed by a set of double doors. The room, complete with its soaring roof, is furnished with comfortable cushioned sofas and ottomans, a coffee table and a desk in one corner, it features built-in glass shelving and a floor created from recycled antique timber. This state-of-the-art home theatre boasts a huge wall mounted cinema screen, supported by a hi-tech surround sound and music system, and a projector for showing movies and DVDs, in addition to satellite TV channels.

Bar & Pool Table
At the far end of the mezzanine, overlooking the Zen bamboo garden is a semi open-air area with a teakwood bar, together with heavy solid wood bar stools, corner seating and a pool table. To one side is a guest washroom with toilet and washbasin.

Pool House
The pool house rests in an elevated position within the garden. It is accessed by five steps, and characterised by antique teakwood walls and a shingle roof. This enchanting little house is flanked by a raised timber deck, complete with an outdoor bar, a quality sound system, a barbeque area and an outdoor dining table and chairs. Gorgeous antique doors open to reveal a spacious air-conditioned bedroom with an antique teakwood floor, on which rests a custom made king size teak bed, innovative bedside lamps, a large dressing table and a wardrobe under the high, timber-lined roof. Local hand-woven ikat bed linens complete the picture of rustic charm. The semi open air en-suite bathroom features glass shelving, a glass washbasin, rainshower and toilet.

Bungalow
A two storey building at the far end of the garden houses two further air-conditioned bedrooms. The downstairs lagoon bedroom with ensuite overlooks the waterfall and enjoys the tranquillity of the sound of running water. Warm hardwood Mabao floors and beautiful tropical flower paintings help complete the feeling of Zen.

Upstairs is a fully restored teak bungalow accessed by an external flight of stone steps. With a polished concrete floor, pitched roof and white washed timber walls, this delightful bedroom has the feel of a wooden chalet. It is attractively furnished with a king size bed, bedside lamps, table, chair, and a wardrobe. Sliding doors lead on to an ironwood deck complete with a hammock and table for two. Raised high above the garden, the bedroom and deck affords stunning views all over the estate and the surrounding rice fields, and the breezy deck is a particularly delightful place to relax. The enticing 18-metre swimming pool is positioned in front of the main house and is ideal for swimming laps. It utilises an advanced salt water filtration system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin. It also incorporates a circular champagne plug pool, adding to the delight of tropical living. Located within the Kerobokan district of Bali, the entrance to this two-bedroom villa is across large stones set within a lotus pool. Angular roofs in serap, above walls of island stone, create an air of anticipation. Sharp lines and beautiful finishing categorize this two-bedroom villa, a mélange of the modern with traditional elements make this a showcase of modern Balinese architecture.

The living room provides the center point of Villa Bali-Bali Two. Upstairs is a loft that serves as the audiovisual room. The living room is decorated in antiques from around the archipelago and featuring walls done in stone with wood detailing, it’s a place to entertain or merely relax. Floored in local sandstone, opening onto the garden and pool on one side and the dining room, that seats six, and a modern kitchen on the other, everything that one needs seems to be only steps away.

Set within the Kerobokan district of southern Bali, the exquisite charm of Villa Bali-Bali One lies in the authentic mix of modern and traditional styles. The three-bed roomed villa boasts a large open plan living area, mezzanine entertainment lounge, a half moon pool and beautifully manicured gardens. The dramatic sloping roofs create unusual shaped rooms throughout the villa and enhance the innovative style of architectural lay out.

Walking to the villa from the private driveway, guests are greeted by a charming statue of Saraswati, the Balinese Goddess of science and literature. Descending teak steps lead to the comfortable living space, with smart corner sofas set amidst a myriad of tribal decorations from across the Indonesian archipelago.
A mezzanine lounge has a built-in sofa, the perfect place to curl up with a book or to examine the underside of the complex roof, consisting of overlapping structures defining the boundaries of each room. Guests can also enjoy some audio-visual entertainment from the VCD, Stereo and TV center.

Tucked away on the left of the living space is the formal dining area. Built at a sunken level, the garden lawn rises to meet the top of a low open wall at the far end, level with the eight-seat teak dining table. An antique carved wooden screen separates the sleek modern kitchen and a skylit triangular-roofed corridor, decorated with an eye-catching showcase of mounted natural stones, leads to the bedrooms.
The delightful master bedroom has a mosquito-canopied king-sized four-poster bed and beautiful wall hangings of Balinese fabrics. Wide sliding glass doors access a secluded seating terrace and give the room a light naturally aerated feel. The ensuite bathroom boasts a circular sunken tub and wooden decked shower. Enhanced by the view of a flowering lily pond through a glass wall, this Balinese style semi-outdoors bathroom provides a welcome change from those of the West.

The second and third bedrooms, each with private access through a small mirrored hallway, share a twin-basin bathroom. As in the master bathroom, chic marble basins, on columns of the same, stand atop a teak vanity. The bedrooms themselves both have king-sized beds and ample built-in wardrobe space.
The immaculately landscaped grounds are adorned with thatched garden lights for nighttime illumination, lush banana trees and beds of deep green foliage. Next to the semi-circular infinity-style pool is a shingle-roofed bale (Balinese gazebo) for shaded relaxation and there are teak sun lounges for guests desiring sun worship.

• Five security guards
  Their duties are to patrol the grounds and guard the entrance of the villas from dusk to dawn ensuring your security.
• Two gardeners and pool attendants
  Tending the garden and the grounds of the villas. They ensure that the facilities of the villa run smoothly during your visit.

Villa Bali-Bali Cottage belies its name, this is a villa of outstanding quality that is petite yet accommodating, within the Villa Bali-Bali Complex. Consisting of two buildings interlinked by a covered passageway, the villa contains two bedrooms plus an additional smaller bedroom suitable for a maid or child. This villa has only a twelve square meter whirlpool and is ideally rented in conjunction with one or both of the other villas within the Bali-Bali complex.

Native stone and hardwoods are the key structural elements of this villa, showcased throughout is a careful attention to detail and a modern flair.
Entering through a private garden area, the villa opens up into a spacious living and dining area. To the right, there is a fitted corner sofa large enough to accommodate six people. To the right, a dining table that can be set for eight. Ahead is a small, yet fully outfitted kitchen, and a small bedroom outfitted with a single bed.

The route to the ground floor bedroom is an interesting slatted wood walkway that passes the whirlpool en route. The bedroom has polished wooden floors and clean white walls for a relaxing, cool ambience. The ensuite bathroom has a large shower cubicle over a hardwood slat floor.
The mezzanine bedroom reaches high into the ceiling giving a romantic ‘tucked away’ sensation.
